Step Up to the Challenge! The Fight For Air Climb is a great way to challenge yourself physically. Different from other events, the Fight For Air Climb is a vertical road race to reach the top. Stairclimbing is a great sport that improves the fitness level of each participant and burns more calories than walking or running. To climb successfully, the American Lung Association strongly urges all participants to train before embarking on the ascent.

Practice stair climbing up 19 floors, 350 stairs at Saint John’s on the Lake, as many times as you’d like in one hour! No fundraising minimum required.

Visit one of the 17 official Fight For Air Climb 9Round locations in Wisconsin on Thursdays from 9 - 11 AM OR 6 - 8 PM starting January 18 until March 8 and train for FREE! All climbers must present the 1-page certificate in their Welcome Packet to redeem at their local 9Round gym, and must present the certificate for each training session. Training Tips

Like with any athletic activity, you need to find the elements that work for you. To help get you started, here are some tips:

  • If you are new to climbing stairs, then start slow and build up your tempo.
  • To reduce the risk of injury, place your entire foot on the stair each time.
  • Experiment with climbing techniques. Check out our climb training guide here. For example, some climbers prefer to keep their arms by their sides, while others prefer to use the handrails. You can climb one or two steps at a time, depending on your comfort level. Use your training climbs to find what works for you.
  • Consider a light snack before the climb begins. This will help you maintain your energy level without feeling sick.
  • Post Climb take a couple of minutes to cool down and stretch. This will help keep your muscles from being sore.
