The Greenbrier Trail Bike Trek is an exciting 3-day,100-mile rail-to-trail mountain bike adventure that combines unforgettable mountain scenery with the unique sights of Pocahontas and Greenbrier Counties. Join us and experience the robust Greenbrier River Trail that can only be encountered on foot or by bike.
Riders under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. (Only 3 riders under the age of 18 - per adult partner).
This event is a go-at-your own pace ride for cyclist of all levels of experience. Trekkers will enjoy a fully-supported ride on the Greenbrier River Trail. ALA will provide lodging, food and transportation. Bike mechanics and medical crews will ride with the group during the entire trip.
The event begins with registration on Thursday evening, May 17th at the Greenbrier Valley Youth Camp in Anthony, WV. Participants will then be bused to the top of Snowshoe Mountain at Expedition Station to enjoy an evening of welcome, dinner and meet-and-greet with their fellow trekkers. Lodging is provided at Expedition Station on top of the mountain for both Thursday and Friday nights in one of the Jr. Studios (one bed / one sleeper sofa).
The ride begins on Friday morning after a breakfast buffet, orientation and photos. You will have a choice of starting points:
No matter your starting point you will be totally be taken care of, with sag, medical and mechanical support.
At Cass, you will hop on the Greenbrier River Trail for an enjoyable and peaceful ride along the Greenbrier River with remarkable scenic views, including a ride through the 511-foot Sharp's tunnel. After the 34-mile ride and a picnic lunch, we will finish the day in Marlinton. After storing bikes in Marlinton, you will be bused back to the Inn at Snowshoe where you will enjoy dinner and an evening full of storytelling, laughter and other activities, or if you chose, a relaxing evening in your room.
Saturday, after a breakfast buffet, all trekkers depart for a 44-mile ride on the Trail. Your adventure will take you through the second of the two tunnels, the 402-foot Droop Mountain Tunnel. Afterward you will enjoy a relaxing lunch along the Greenbrier River. The day ends back at Greenbrier Youth Camp. Evening activities consist of a delicious home cooked dinner, silent and auction awards ceremony, and a camp fire with plenty of storytelling.
On Sunday we will complete the last 22 miles by riding from Anthony to Caldwell and back before noon, allowing plenty of time to make your trip home.
Fee Requirements: Includes Registration Fee and Minimum Fundraising Requirements
As a trek participant, you will receive a long sleeve-shirt, meals, lodging, gear transportation, shuttle service, sag and mechanic support and medical crew during the event.
Raise $1,000 or more to be a member of the elite Winners Circle and receive a jersey. All proceeds benefit the American Lung Association.
