The Trek Across Maine is a 3-day, 180 mile cycling event from the mountains of Sunday River to the sea in Belfast. As the largest fundraising event of its kind in the nation for the American Lung Association, the Trek has raised more than $24 million in the past 30+ years. Join nearly 2,000 cyclists and 750 volunteers on this one of a kind journey on Father’s Day Weekend.

Trek Across Maine Announces New Route for 35th Anniversary in 2019

The Trek Across Maine offers three route options with varying levels of mileage and fundraising. Registration fee is $65 (non-refundable & non-transferable) for each route option. Registration fee does not count toward fundraising minimum.

Lodging Options at Sunday River Thursday, June 14th

Hotel rooming is currently sold out at Sunday River (Summit Hotel & Jordan Grand Hotel) for Thursday, June 14th. There are a variety of alternative lodging locations and options listed below. Please review these options if you are still looking to making your lodging arrangements.

Sunday River Lodging Options Available

3 Day Option

Date: June 15 - 17, 2018
Start Location: Sunday River Ski Resort - Newry, ME
Finish Location: Steamboat Landing - Belfast, ME
Mileage: 180 miles
Fundraising Minimum: $550 ($450 ages 7-17)
Age Limit: 7 years and up.

2 Day Option

Date: June 16 – 17, 2018
Start Location: Colby College, Waterville, ME
Finish Location: Steamboat Landing, Belfast, ME
Mileage: 102 miles
Fundraising Minimum: $450 ($350 ages 7-17)
Age Limit: 7 years and up

New - 1 Day Option
Date: Sunday, June 17, 2018
Start Location: Colby College, Waterville, ME
Finish Location: Steamboat Landing, Belfast, ME
Mileage: 56 miles
Fundraising Minimum: $350 ($250 ages 7-17)
Age Limit: 7 years and up

Children between the ages of 7 - 12 must ride a tandem or tag-a-long bike with adult guardian. All children under the age of 18 must have an adult guardian with them at all times on the route. Child and guardian are both required to meet the fundraising minimum.

3 DAY ROUTE INFORMATION:

  • Day 1: Sunday River to University of Maine at Farmington (approx. 67 mi) - 3 rest stops located on route
  • Day 2: University of Maine at Farmington to Colby College (approx. 57 mi) - 3 rest stops located on route & 1 water stop
  • Day 3: Colby College to Belfast (approx. 56 mi) - 3 rest stops located on route & last mile staging stop

NOTE: Although we try to be consistent, mileage may vary from year to year depending on local and state construction projects.

Colby Loop Route limited to 200 riders:

  • Day 1: Sunday River to UMF shuttled to Colby College to sleep (approx. 67mi)
  • Day 2: Colby Loop Route around Waterville area (approx. 41 mi)
  • Day 3: Colby College to Belfast (approx. 56mi)

TREK TEAMS

Starting or joining a Trek Team is easy! Teams provide a great source of support and comradery throughout the year as you fundraise and train for the Trek Across Maine. Official Trek Teams consist of 5 members, but can be started with one member and built throughout the year.
