We all know people who suffer from some sort of lung disease. As a nurse I take care of patients, and their family, almost on a daily basis. I have seen how illnesses like pneumonia, to name one, can do to a person with lung disease. With no reserves, more often than not they end up in the hospital and in some cases, intubated and on a ventilator, unable to adequately support their own breathing. I have seen how difficult this can be on family members. Have watched loved ones come in day after day, hoping for improvement only to be disappointed. I have watched friends stay at the bedside of their spouse for days on end, sleeping in room in fear of not being there, for better or worse. I have witnessed the wives and husbands lose their spouse of decades, the sadness, the loss of meaning in their life. No matter if its because of lifestyle, genetics, or environmental factors. Through education and lifestyle change, or through research for new treatments, the quality of life of these individuals can be improved.
Chances are you know someone who has faced the challenges of asthma, COPD, lung cancer or air pollution. By making a donation on my behalf, you will be helping the American Lung Association provide community based education programs, fight for cleaner air standards and fund life-saving research. With your help, we will fight against lung disease and for lung health. We will be making a positive difference for all of the parents who have a child with asthma, the people who struggle daily with COPD and the mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, children and friends who get diagnosed with lung cancer.
Every donation I receive helps make a bigger impact. Please contribute to my effort to save lives, by donating 100$ or whatever is affordable.
Together we can fight lung disease successfully!
