Hey friends and family!
As as many of you know, last year we walked and raised money/awareness for lung related cancer and disease (copd, asthma, etc). I'd like to thank everyone for our team's success.
The weather was not perfect last year, but we did brunch after... so, let's do it again!
There are are so many reasons to walk and raise, but my reason is the reason I am here today; my beautiful, strong, courageous mother. Marianne was getting a chest X-ray for a completely unrelated reason, and the nodules were noticed on her lungs. Right then and there, she quit smoking cold turkey. And although I was terrified for my life for a week or so because of the withdrawal monster, I've never been so proud of anyone in my life.
Days, weeks, months went by with tests and uncertainty. It started out "75% chance it's not cancer" to "95% chance it was". She underwent one surgery, and a few months later she underwent another on the other lung. Sure as hell, it was the ugly c-word.
Through it all, she was strong, poised, and brave. I was never more sure that not all heros wear capes.
Let's walk, let's brunch, let's take a breath and share our voices! Any tiny bit helps!
