Welcome to My Personal Page
I am climbing up these 32 flights of stairs for the second year in a row. My mom died suddenly of an asthma attack when I was just 16. She was only 42. I am climbing in her honor.
I am a single mom of two young children. After I turned 30, I made a commitment to take charge of my health. I have suffered from asthma since my teen years. It was never bad enough to exclude me from activities. But the heavier I got, the more easily I was winded and the more labored my breathing would become. In August of 2010, I decided that enough was enough. It was time for me to take a stand for my health. I started running and strength training in addition to eating better. I have since run many short and long distance races including 5Ks, 10Ks, 15Ks, and Half-Marathons. I have lost weight, earned confidence, and above all else increased the likelihood of living longer for my children. I am showing my children how to make healthy life choices.
No one should struggle to breathe. That is why I am climbing in the Fight For Air Climb.
Please either join me and register for the climb or make a generous donation to the American Lung Association to support our FIGHT FOR AIR.
Thank you for joining this important fight for children with asthma, teens who are pressured to start smoking, people with lung cancer and emphysema, and everyone who wants to breathe healthy air in our communities.
