Welcome to My Personal Page
Thank you for visiting my home page for the "Fight For Air" stair climb. This will be my third time participating in this event. The first time was in 2007 - a little over a year after my own personal battle with lung disease. If you are visiting this page, I'll assume you are familiar with the story, so I'll spare you the details of me retelling it again.
I participated in this event again in 2008. Then in 2009, I had knee surgery so I had to take a year off. And then I got lazy...
For the next two years, it seemed like there was always some valid excuse for not supporting the very organization that helped save my life. Time has a way of healing both the physical and emotional scars, and five years removed from my surgery, I was back running and biking and playing soccer. I was one of the lucky ones, but I was quickly reminded that not everyone is quite so lucky. Last year I learned that the father of one of my colleagues had been diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer. It was then that I realized that, while my battle was over, many other battles are being fought and sometimes lost.
So after a three year hiatus, I am back in training to climb the Carew Tower. This one is for you, John, in the hopes that future generations won't have to suffer as you did.
