NEW: SUNDAY RIVER - SOUTH RIDGE LODGE

Check in for the 2017 Trek Across Maine officially opens on Thursday, June 15! All cyclists are welcome to join us at Sunday River for this first official evening of the Trek Across Maine weekend.

NEW: All Thursday activities have been moved to the South Ridge Logde at Sunday River. Please review our 2017 Sunday River Grid for new locations and times for Thursday events. The flow of Thursday evening activities will be different than in past years, please review our 2017 Sunday River Flow to see how it affects you. Highlights of Thursday evening include: 

  • Regular Check In – 3:00pm – 9:00pm
    • All participants who will be turning in additional paperwork or pledges to reach their fundraising minimum will participate in this check in.
  • Speedy Check In – 3:00pm – 9:00pm
    • The quickest way to work through your check in process! Complete all your check in requirements and turn in your fundraising minimum prior to May 19 to qualify for this ultra-speedy process!
  • Winner’s Circle Check In – 3:00pm – 9:00pm
    • Our most prestigious group of fundraisers will enjoy this special check in process! Turn in $1100 in pledges by May 19 to qualify for the weekend of event benefits of the Winner’s Circle. Members will receive a commemorative cycling jersey, special sponsor giveaways and a boisterous welcome as they arrive for their check in process!

You are not required to stay overnight at Sunday River on Thursday, but you must complete a check in with the American Lung Association staff Thursday evening if you decide to stay at Sunday River on Thursday. If you are arriving on Friday, you can check in on Friday morning before you begin your ride.

South Ridge – Sunday River Resort

  • Trek Across Maine – Official Start Line
    • Kick off your Trek ride with a start line to remember. See hundreds of cyclists lined up together as they prepare to begin their journey across the state. Enjoy encouragement from ALA of the Northeast CEO and get pumped up to music playing and volunteers cheering you on! You won’t forget this experience.

University of Maine at Farmington

  • Baked Potato Bar
    • Many have called this the “best baked potato I’ve ever had’! After your first day of cycling, enjoy a build your own baked potato bar at the finish line at UMF. Enjoy your snack as your watch your fellow cyclists complete their ride from the hill at Farmington.
  • Massage Therapists
    • After a great ride, soothe your body with a 15 minute massage by licensed massage therapists.  $15 fee applies.
  • Evening Entertainment
    • All are invited to join for the evening entertainment provided by ALA. Ranging from comedians to trick cycling performances, you will enjoy gathering with a large group of your fellow participants to unwind after your first day riding. 2017 entertainment will be announced in early spring!

Colby College

  • NEW – Trek Across Maine – 2 Day Ride Option
    • Check In: 6:30 – 8:00am on Saturday OR Friday, June 16 from 4:30pm – 7:00pm
      All 2 day option cyclists will check in at the Mary Low building at Colby College between 6:30 – 8:00am on Saturday morning or 4:30 – 7:00pm Friday night. You will receive lodging information (if applicable), cycling identification numbers, luggage tags, etc. Breakfast will be available in the dining hall. Long term parking will be located at the Mary Low Lot on Colby campus.
      • NOTE: If you choose to check in on Friday night at Colby College, you have an option to pay $50 and receive dinner and accommodations at Colby College that evening. If you would like to take advantage of this new option, email TrekAcrossMaine@LungNE.org by May 19th.
    • Ride Start Time: 8:00 – 9:00am
      All cyclists must be on the route by 9:00am (no cyclists will be permitted to depart after 9:00am). SAG and medical vehicles will be on the route providing support. All 2 day option cyclists will meet up with the “regular” route at the 2nd rest stop (Norridgewock) and will complete their ride for the day back at Colby College.
    • 2 day option cyclists will enjoy all the same activities and entertainment as “regular” route cyclists at Colby College on Saturday evening.

  • Pizza Hut Food Tent
    • Pizza Hut sponsors the finish line food tent at Colby College! Enjoy a couple slices of pizza and a cup of ice cream after you’ve completed your second day of riding.
  • Massage Therapists

  • Team Tent City
    • You won’t miss this! Thirty of our largest and highest fundraising teams will be set up in Team Tent City on the Roberts Lawn at Colby College. A community of blue tents, grills, games, and music is open to all to swing in and enjoy! Teams go all out to decorate their tents and provide goodies for folks that stop in to say hi. A live band performing adds to the fun atmosphere!
    • Team Photos
      • Our official Trek photographer, Karsten Moran, will be taking FREE team photos on the steps of the historic Colby College Library in the afternoon from 2:30-4:30. These photos will be free and available to all teams to download or purchase prints after the Trek. Teams large or small are encouraged to participate; and be as serious or wacky as you want in your photo.
  • Spirit of the Trek
    • This celebration is focused on sharing the accomplishments of the American Lung Association and the work of our mission that has been achieved through the support of cyclists and volunteers at the Trek. Our annual Dana Dutton Volunteer Award will be handed out to a well deserving Trek volunteer, and veteran, fundraising and team recognitions will all take place as well! Following the program, a slideshow of event photos will be available for viewing.

  • athenahealth Team Gathering Stop
    • Swing into the beautiful athenahealth campus in Belfast for a final gathering place for teams and cyclists before crossing the finish line! A perfect area for teams that want to ride in and cross the finish line together to meet and stage as they head out for the final stretch to the finish line.
  • Finish Line Lunch
    • This catered meal is offered to all cyclists and volunteers as you overlook the gorgeous ocean view in Steamboat Landing. Guest meal tickets are available for purchase for family and friends to eat with you (can be purchase online only starting April 1).
  • 2 Day Option – Transportation
    • Bus transportation (and bike transportation) will be provided for 2 day option cyclists back to their vehicles in the Mary Low Parking Lot at Colby College. Bus and bike truck will depart from Belfast finish line at 3:00pm sharp and return directly to long term parking at Colby.
