Available Accommodations - Thursday, June 15

NEW: All Thursday activities have been moved to the South Ridge Logde at Sunday River. Please review our 2017 Sunday River Grid for new locations and times for Thursday events. The flow of Thursday evening activities will be different than in past years, please review our 2017 Sunday River Flow to see how it affects you.

You are required to make your own arrangements for accommodations on Thursday, June 15 if you choose to stay overnight at Sunday River in Newry. Please review the 2017 Trek Across Maine Lodging Options prior to calling Sunday River. You can begin making your reservations for a hotel room starting February 1, 2017. Call Sunday River at 800-543-2754 to make reservations for a hotel room, dorm rooms or camping

You are not required to stay overnight at Sunday River - but you must complete a check in with the American Lung Association staff Thursday evening if you decide to stay at Sunday River on Thursday. If you are arriving on Friday, you can check in on Friday morning before you begin your ride. (See Trekker Handbook for details.)

Available Accommodations - Trek Weekend - June 16 & 17

(Dorms, gym/fieldhouse, and camping areas are all located on campus at UMF and Colby College) 

Dorm Bed

  • Available for the first 650 trekkers that register
  • You will be assigned a roommate for your dorm room (you may request a desired roommate if they are registered)
  • Your dorm assignments will be provided in your check in packet at Sunday River 

You need to provide your own sleeping linens, pillows, toiletries, towels, etc. Dorms will provide a mattress and shower facilities only. 

Gym/Fieldhouse

  • An open floor space will be provided for trekkers and volunteers to sleep
  • You can choose your own space on the floor on a first come - first serve basis
  • No tents are allowed to be pitched in these spaces - strictly prohibited

You need to provide your own sleeping mat or bag, pillows, toiletries, towels, etc. There will be shower facilities available in the gym or fieldhouse building.

Camping

  • Open camping areas are provided at each facility: Prescott Field at UMF and Roberts Lawn at Colby College
  • You are responsible for providing and setting up your own tent
  • There is no wake up call in the morning - Plan accordingly for cell phone charging, alarms, etc.

Campers will be provided with one additional luggage tag for their tent. ALA luggage trucks will transport and unload with your other luggage bags.

Other/Off Campus

  • You may choose to make hotel reservations (at your own cost) or stay with family/friends in each city
  • ALA provides shuttle service to select hotels in Farmington and Waterville for a scheduled period of time
  • You will pick up your luggage on campus and bring it with you by shuttle to your hotel
  • See Event Schedule in your Participant Center for details and times

Colby Loop Option

The ALA offers an alternate route option called the Colby Loop. This route is limited to 200 trekkers and offers a shorter riding distance on Saturday, June 17. Dorm rooms are provided; you may choose to camp if you prefer. 

Please read for details on the logistics of the Colby Loop route option:

  • Colby Loop Trekkers will ride with all trekkers from Sunday River to UMF on Friday, June 16
  • Buses and trucks will transport Colby Loop Trekkers, their luggage and bikes from UMF to Colby on Friday afternoon
  • Colby Loop trekkers will sleep overnight at Colby on Friday night (regular route trekkers will sleep at UMF)
  • The Colby Loop route will begin from the Colby fieldhouse parking lot on Saturday morning at 8:00am
  • Colby Loop route will re-join all other trekkers at rest stop 3 in Norridgewock
  • All trekkers will complete the final leg of the route together and sleep overnight at Colby on Saturday, June 17.
  • 2 Day Trekkers will ride the Colby Loop route on Saturday and join all trekkers for the final leg to Belfast on Sunday June, 18.
