I am writing about my upcoming bike ride event that I have been dreaming for the past 2 years.
This fall, I will join other cyclists and the American Lung Association in a journey across Cape Cod while raising money to fight lung disease and increase awareness about the importance of lung health.
Lung disease can take someone's breath away, leaving them unable to work, exercise or play. Growing faster than almost any other major illness, lung disease, including lung cancer, asthma and emphysema is the third leading cause of death in the United States.
I feel sad for the patients who suffer from smoking related lung diseases including asthma, COPD(Chronic Obstructive Lung Diseases), Emphysema, Lung Cancer in addition to various other cancers, heart disease, vascular disease, etc.
American Lung Association is very active in fighting for clean air.
They organize various awareness events including Stairclimbs, Walks and Bike Rides.
My team participated in the stairclimb in Springfield in 2012.
We organized the First Annual Lung Walk in Corpus Christi, TX in 2010 to create awareness of Lung Diseases and Dangers of Tobacco use. We raised approximately $10000 and donated to organizations like American College of Chest Physicians, COPD Foundation and ItsYourLifeFoundation to promote education and research.
This year I plan to Ride the Autumn Escape Bike Trek organized by American Lung Association. I will be riding for 2 days covering 105 miles.
By riding this event, I fully support the American Lung Association in its activities to continue to Fight for Clean Air so that our Community and the next generation can hope to see a decline in Lung Diseases.
My thoughts and compassion goes to the sufferers who are victims of tobacco abuse.
All funds raised thru the ride go to American Lung Association in support of Education and Research.
Please join me in my efforts to make a difference for cleaner air and healthier life by making a personal or corporate tax-deductible donation.
Thank you in advance for your support!
