Reach The Beach 2017

Red Headed Unicorns

Hello Friends and Thank you for signing up!!!

On May 20th we will be pedaling from Portland, Or to Pacific City! 104 miles in a single day and we will be doing it to raise awareness for all affected by Lung Cancer, but esspecially for a young woman by the name of Kimberly Ringen.

I first heard of Kim's story from our great friend and Kims's sister in law, Kirsten Ringen.

Roughly 4 years ago, Kim and her husband shared the happy news that they were expecting, adding to their family of 3 dogs. But when Kim was in her second trimester and experienced trouble breathing with enlarged lymph nodes, she did what any other veterinarian oncologist would do. She did her own ultrasound of her lymph nodes. What happened next… well no one could have imagined what would be discovered: Kim had Stage 4 lung cancer. Kim was 35 years old at the time, was a marathon runner and was looking forward to creating a family. The disease that she once fought so hard in animals, she now faced head on.

Since then, while dealing with her own agressive treatments, Kim has waged her own war against this disease. Doing her own research, offering her own body to experimental treatments, talking to doctors and raising her own donation on behalf of this disease, including raising $24000 dollars last year, earning her a trip to Super Bowl 50!

We'll be pedaling this grueling distance because, if Kim could do it, she would! Im excited to participate in this for all that cant and for all that should.

Every participant will need to raise a minimum of $125 in addition to their $45 entry fee. I have no worries that all of can raise much more for this great cause. Thank you. I know Kim Thanks you. Now start training;)
