As everyone who is close to me knows, both of my parents passed away from lung cancer in 2014, only six months apart from each other. Both of them had a passion for life, were such hard workers and determined, and they cared deeply for others.
My dad was always quick to help others out. In fact at his memorial service several of his employees approached me and told me my dad had lent them money to help them pay their bills, or they had called him when their car had broken down and they were stranded on the side of the road. My dad went out and helped them.
My mom found a new lease on life after my dad passed away. She knew her purpose on this earth was to help others. She began to reach out to people in need, whether it was a family who needed furniture because they were starting a new life after they left an abusive situation, a friend who needed money for a fresh start, or just an acquaintance who needed someone to listen; my mom was there.
In my parents’ honor I will be cycling 55 miles, I want to raise money for the American Lung Association and to help others just like my parents did. I would love to help others who have suffered, are suffering, or will suffer from lung disease. I love you mom and dad! Help us fight lung disease!!
Lung disease is on the rise and your donation would help fund research and provide education and advocacy efforts. One step at a time, you can help me run for a better tomorrow.
