Team Mark's Madness joined RTB in 2015 to support lung cancer awareness and in memory of my late husband, Mark Landers. Mark was an avid cyclist who died from non-smoker's lung cancer in 2014 at age 45.
Lung cancer is the #1 cancer killer over many other cancers, including breast, cervical, and prostate cancer combined. Only 17% of lung cancer patients survive five years, and that has not changed since the 1970's.
Together, we can change the stigma of lung cancer. The American Lung Assocation is working with Lung Force to raise awareness for early detection screening and increased federal funding for lung cancer research. With enough reserach dollars, it is our hope they can increase the survival rate.
The community support our team receives in the form of new riders and donations each year clearly represents the legacy of a great man that left us too soon. Your continued generosity would mean a lot to all who benefit from the work of the American Lung Assocation.
