Last year, the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) adopted its first Sustainable Communities Strategy as part of its 2013-2035 Regional Transportation Plan (RTP/SCS).  This ambitious plan aims to improve environmental and health outcomes with an emphasis on building sustainable communities with more active transportation choices. It sets out a blueprint for the region over the next 25 years and commits to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in line with Senate Bill 375 (Sustainable  Communities and Climate Protection Act).
As we begin to see the implementation of the RTP/SCS we must ensure that it continues to promote healthier communities with more active transportation options such as public transit, walking and cycling.  By promoting healthier more active neighborhoods we can reduce rates of chronic illnesses and premature deaths.

Please join the American Lung Association in California, Rialto Mayor Deborah Robertson, representatives from Inland Empire Public Health Departments  and other leading health organizations at this free forum to look at how we can work together to engage in this planning process to support a healthier Inland  Empire.
