Since 1993, the Asthma Educator Institute has been the professional development course of choice for thousands of clinicians committed to providing National Institutes of Health (NIH) asthma guidelines-based care. This two-day course was updated in 2003 to reflect the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program Expert Panel Report 3: Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Asthma. The AEI also serves as a preparatory course for those qualified to take the National Asthma Educator Certification Board (NAECB) exam to become a certified asthma educator (AE-C). The curriculum covers the content outlined in the NAECB exam and includes case reviews, hands-on skills demonstration and practice. The course is delivered by asthma experts, including physicians, nurses and certified asthma educators.
